VIVERSE, the web content platform from HTC, today announced the winners of its first global Art Jam competition held in collaboration with popular immersive art and VR painting app Open Brush, the open-source successor to Google’s Tilt Brush.
Artists from all over the world created immersive artwork in the Open Brush VR app, focused on the theme of “what reminds you of home”. They then published their VR art to VIVERSE as browser-based WebXR experiences that can be shared as a simple URL link and can be enjoyed on laptops, tablets, smartphones, or other devices with a modern web browser.
“Spatial painting is a truly unique medium – neither painting nor sculpture but something distinct and separate from both. It allows the creation of many genuinely wonderful and unique works from many wonderful and unique artists,” said Andy Baker, Lead Developer at Open Brush.
The competition saw a variety of entries spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Below are the winning projects, viewable in browser on VIVERSE. The winning artwork was judged on Concept, Craft, and Optimization. Judges included Lead Developer of Open Brush Andy Baker and professional VR artists Sutu and Aimi Sekiguchi.

“It’s not just drawing art – it’s creating entire worlds,” said VR artist and immersive art creator Aimi Sekiguchi. “`This approach of delivering new experiences is pioneering a new genre. VIVERSE expanding access across multiple devices holds great significance in bringing these possibilities to more people.”
“It’s incredible to see so much creativity brought to life in this artwork,” said Andranik Aslanyan, Head of Growth at VIVERSE. “The wonderful thing is that VR artwork can now break free from the headset. VIVERSE’s WebXR platform brings immersive art experiences to any laptop, tablet, or phone, so anyone can try them, even without a VR headset. Our partnership with Open Brush helps preserve the artists’ original vision and makes their work eminently shareable on the web.”
VIVERSE also recently launched its Partner Program which allows artists, developers and creators to monetize their content through performance-based awards for real user engagement – not how many ads were served. The program is free to enroll and non-exclusive, so creators can continue to publish on other platforms while they earn and expand their reach on VIVERSE. Importantly, hosted content on VIVERSE is not used to train AI models, ensuring that creators’ IPs remain protected.
