The series opened this summer with The Clear-Beach List 2026, a guide to beaches without sargassum for travelers in a record seaweed year. Houseful audited 52 independent properties and named 28 on coasts that tend to stay clear. Rankings are based on shoreline orientation, offshore reef and island shelter, track record across recent seasons, and how openly each operator shares real beach conditions. Honorees span Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Holbox, Puerto Morelos, Cancún and Playa del Carmen.
“Sargassum is a coastline question more than an island question,” said Dustin Lack, founder of Houseful Co. “The properties on this list are family-owned inns and owner-run villas that know their shoreline and tell guests the truth about it. Those are the businesses we want travelers to find.”
